Traveling? A Good Vacation Camera Will Keep Your Memories Alive

Gone (or almost gone) are the days of using film for your vacation photos. Remember those “throw away” versions that you could pick up in a local drug store? Nope, now just about everyone has a digital image maker. But what’s in your bag?

Disposable Cameras As Artistic Tools

As you may know, I’m a really big fan of the disposable camera. I love the way that you can use them to snap shots in interesting ways and novel places. I feel that they really push the boundaries of what you can do simply because they are disposable. You can do things with a disposable camera that you wouldn’t dream of doing with your digital camera.

Great Travel Camera – What to Look For in Your Next Travel Camera

Not every digital compact qualifies as a great travel camera. To find the best digital compact for your vacation needs, make sure you read all the qualifications listed below.

35mm Leica Rangefinder Cameras

Leica Rangefinders The most famous rangefinder (and boy do we all want one!) the Leica 1 was the first rangefinder camera to use 35mm film. ‘Mr Kodak’ had developed miniature roll previously but he based it on the smaller size used in movie photography.

History of 35mm Rangefinder Cameras

History of the 35mm Rangefinder Camera Cast your mind back if you will to a time when a photographer was required to coat large cumbersome plates, sensitize their own printing papers and prepare a range of toxic chemicals. Now contrast that process with a ‘gizmo’ laden mega, mega pixel ‘offering’ purchased for small money and you can see how far we have come in a relatively short period of time.

The Importance of a Photo

Before digital photography, we snapped our pictures without a preview screen, took our little canister to the drugstore and developed the whole thing. We would collect our prints, sort through the ones that did not come out and then put them in a photo box. Of course, super organized families had photo albums, but we had a box, and I think we need more boxes.

Photographic Art – A Contradiction in Terms?

Photography, is it an art? Is it a reproductive, rather than a creative art? Reproductive is the art that violinists and tuba players share. They reproduce something that exists in the form of notes, quite literally notes on paper. Creative artists are painters, poets, sculptures and the like, who from clay or pigment create things that never existed before they made them (a bit like God). Photos do not reproduce things in the sense that musicians do. A photo of a building is no building, while Heifetz’s rendition of Bach’s Chaconne is every inch a rendition of Bach’s notes; it is blade of grass or the kitchen sink, but the Chaconne, without a doubt.

Photography – Chroma Key Techniques For Perfect Digital Images

Using chroma key techniques can open the door to creativity. Artists can use these new tools to create realistic images once only seen in his or her own mind’s eye. Professional photo studios can offer their clients a greater selection of products. There is no need to keep several backdrops on hand.

Many people I’ve met with a Digital SLR are using it wrong. They don’t understand that taking a photo is a two stage process, where focusing comes before composing. Find out how to do it right.

Digital Photography Class – 5

A tip that might seem obvious is to sometimes turn your camera sideways when taking a picture. This can be particularly effective when taking photos of a subject or subjects where the background has nothing to offer, so for example, if you were taking a picture of your mum and dad you could turn the camera sideways and get them in full length which doesn’t leave you with too much background either side and fills the picture with the intended purpose making it a much more effective shot.
