How Sharp Is Your Lens?

Now now, there’s no reason to be afraid. I don’t know why it is, but for some reason the mere thought of an SLR camera sends many potential camera buyers into a frenzy. Even the most technically savvy geeks in the crowd start to break into a sweat and get all jittery at the thought of having to take pictures with a SLR camera.

Everybody wants to get more out of their buying dollar today, and digital camera shoppers are no exception to that rule. With the economic downturn, and all the employment uncertainty, it’s really no surprise that everyone will try to get more for their money. When shopping for digital cameras, that can become especially tricky, due to vast number of them for sale, and how expensive some of them can be.

Although posing for a photograph can result in a wonderful image, candid shots always win at the end of the day. Why? Because they are so much more fun and natural. We all loved ‘Candid Camera” and this is why candid photos are so popular. Let’s take a look how to shoot great candids.

If you really want to take your photography seriously you should go for a school or college which specializes in it. These specialized schools will probably employ a professional which should really help you learn the specifics and expand your know-how.

For some people, electronic gadgets are the most intuitive tools on the planet. For others, however nothing could be further from the truth. Well, it’s not entirely their fault, as some gadgets simply suffer from bad design. Digital cameras however are usually laid out pretty well with the user in mind. They do have a tendency to bury too many options in several layers of menus, but their getting better. Part of the challenge for digital camera designers, is to decide how to manage all the features that are being crammed into these little silicon boxes these days.

Well, to be honest, I could fill a few pages on the things you should know about digital cameras, but who has time for all that. I mean, that are lots of other things you need to do like go to work, cut the grass, feed the dog, and complain about the weather. Life is simply too busy to devote it to learning everything you can about digital cameras. Well maybe for you guys and gals, but not for me.

If you have a brand new digital camera, or even an older camera that is still doing the job, then there’s no good reason for you to read any further. If however, your not happy with your existing camera, or maybe your shopping for your first digital camera, then your in the right place. Of course, if your one of those people who can’t help themselves, and just buy digital cameras as a hobby, then feel free to read on. I’m sure there are a few tidbits in here your going to enjoy.

Scott Kelby, the author of many digital photography books says, “If your photos aren’t sharp then the rest doesn’t matter”. Key to any image is its sharpness and in order to get those photos pin sharp you need to follow some basic guidelines.

If you can get a child learning the fundamentals of photography from an early age, imagine what photos they will be creating as an adult. Lay down those foundations now and they will thank you for it later

There is nothing more pleasing to a photographer than having their work admired by others. Competitions allow this with the bonus of actually winning first prize. How do you make sure that your photos are up there with the rest and remain competitive?

Learning to use your camera’s macro feature, on camera or lens, will open up a whole new world in your photography and may just get you into trouble. Why? Because it can become an addiction and lead to more expensive equipment. Above all it is fun and easy to do.
